Too many children are sleeping on the floor in the Columbus area. They’re not falling asleep in the hallway because they refuse to go to bed. They’re not trying to sneak in and snuggle with their parents at night. They literally don’t have a bed of their own to sleep in, no place to comfortably lay their head at night.
Eighty families in Central Ohio need help every week to put furniture inside their homes. The Furniture Bank of Central Ohio is there to try and give them as many pieces as they can, to make life easier. Most of their clients make less than $24,000 a year.
The demand is great– and they’re always looking for companies and people like you and I to help them, help families.
The First Down for Mattresses program is one of the many ways children are getting the beds they need. Ashley Furniture HomeStore has stepped up to donate $200 to the furniture bank every time the Buckeyes get a first down on the football field this season. And two former Buckeyes that you may recognize are lending their voices to the effort. So far, the Buckeyes have racked up enough first downs that it’s netted the effort more than $36,000!
I was fortunate enough to help produce this project– and wanted to share what is happening with you!
